Your Questions, Answered.

1. What can I expect from our first session? Our first meeting is an initial assessment where we focus on getting to know one another. For adolescents, this often involves a mix of individual time with the teen and collaborative time with the parents or guardians. We will discuss your goals, your family history, and what "wholeness" looks like for you. It’s a low-pressure way to see if my clinical approach is the right fit for your family’s needs.

2. How do you handle confidentiality when working with teenagers? Trust is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship, especially with adolescents. In accordance with the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act, I maintain a high standard of privacy for my minor clients. While I provide parents with general updates on progress and treatment goals, specific details shared in session remain confidential unless there is a safety concern. We will discuss these "safety boundaries" together in our first session.

3. You mentioned a dual professional role; how does that impact your private practice? My private practice is an intentional space I created to offer the full, unrestricted scope of my clinical expertise. While I continue to serve in my established professional role, this practice allows me the flexibility to provide deeper, more specialized care to adolescents and families. My dual roles ensure I stay current with diverse clinical trends and community needs, ultimately benefiting the families I serve here.

4. How long does the therapy process usually take? There is no "one-size-fits-all" timeline for healing. Some families find the tools they need in a few months, while others prefer long-term support as they navigate the transitions of adolescence. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust the frequency of our sessions based on what is most helpful for your family’s specific journey.

5. Do you offer in-person or telehealth sessions in Illinois? I provide [In-person/Telehealth/Hybrid] services. For telehealth, I utilize a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy. Please note that due to state licensing regulations, I can only provide clinical services to individuals who are physically located within the State of Illinois at the time of the session.
